hi uh idk if you already did this or if I already sent a message about this, but I was wondering if you could rank the Eva seasons of skam + remakes?

sorry this took me so long, i miss doing rankings but they always take a bit longer to do but here i go: eva season ranking (unpopular edition)

1. eva v - admittedly i hate the cinematography but if we are not taking that into account and are focusing solely on the plot and characters this one is my favourite. it has the best chemistry between the girls from the get go. i love how jorge, lucas and eva genuinely seem like three close friends, i love the little and bigger changes, and alba is a wonderful actress

2. eva mohn - i’ve quite recently rewatched the season and i forgot how much i love it! especially eva herself, i relate to her a lot and it’s really comforting. if we were to take cinematography and soundtrack under consideration this would be first place, but i simply prefer eskam girl squad 

3. megan flores - it is so american, the vibes are like so different and for once it isn’t a glamourized american teen show. i do really like how marlon’s friend group had a really different dynamic than jonas’, i really enjoyed watching this, and i love how the girl squad came together and their chemistry. the girls all felt unique, you could easily match them with their norwegian counterpart but they felt like their own character too 

4. hanna jung - back when druck stuck very close to the og. i feel like especially for druck the show really found what they were trying to do, found their own style during s2, s1 still felt a bit patchy at times. i also think the girl squad took some time to really feel organic, though - idk if intentional or not - i quite like it, it made it feel awkwardly real 

5. janna ackermans - braces rep!! to everyone’s surprise i actually quite liked her season, i hated jens but i mean..... if they wanted to make jonas the most unlikable guy ever go for it. i loved janna and zoë’s relationship but i never quite warmed up to the dynamic between the whole group, and i can’t stand amber, she is by far my least favourite vilde (except daphne in s4)

6. isa keijser - skam nl has the aesthetics but lacks good writing, that’s my tea for today. it always feels a bit underdeveloped, it blinds you with lots of pretty shots of the netherlands but doesn’t really ever have hard-hitting dialouges, especially disappointing was the kes/isa break up clip which had.... almost no dialogue? just sex  

7. emma borgès - idk if anyone would put this one higher on the list, but it’s basically skam but in french, word for word translated but somehow shortened, pretty pointless, no wonder since they wanted to be first to put out their remake

druck : “ceo of friendships” - the way they seamlessly brought together the crew and the way i can now see any of the combination of friendships btw them even if we didn’t see it on screen is amazing. of course i do love the girl squad and boy squad friendship, hanna&matteo, amira&matteo friendships too but this is for the #crewlove

skam nl : “ceo of soundtrack” - i am so in love with skam nl’s soundtrack. the thing that makes it the best is that they choose the best songs ever, the songs that actually fit the scene and also the songs that fit the vibe. especially s2 with sufjan stevens and the way they ended with forever young just perfect

skam france : “ceo of drama” - i promise i am saying this in a nice way. look i complain about all their unnecessary drama all the time but i also say that their every decision make sense in their universe. whether it’s having sex in school or getting hit by a car skam france is extra and as much as i complain i also love it sometimes.

skam italia : “ceo of softness” - let me explain, from gio and eva in s1 to contrabbandieri in s2 to how gentle edoardo was with ele every character and every dynamic on this show screams softness. quite looks shared in bedrooms, supportive smiles flashed to friends, all the little hugs at school and even the lighting when it’s not super dark.

skam espana : “ceo of women” - does this sound weird? maybe. but what i mean is that skamesp is the remake unapologetically about the girls. in all of the seasons, and i know cris and joana’s relationship is great, it’s all about the friendship between the girls. s3 was basically a lesson for women, including me. they get female characters on another level.

wtfock : “ceo of twists” - this is mainly about s3 because it was a rollercoaster both in a good way and a bad way. the way that season slapped me in the face with the opposite of whatever i was expecting was something else. starting from not introducing sander in the first ep to ending with zoe and senne getting back together at wtfockdown (which probably happened because of the current situation but still)

unpopular opinion; i don’t really skam nl all that much AND lucas is so overrated. he’s just not a good person from what ive seen of him

skamnl is definitely the most overhyped remake imo; it’s very easy to romanticise since it’s cancelled but s2 has THE cringiest moment across the remakes and s1 is a lot of style > substance. i think the best way to view it is by going in knowing it’s flawed, and just enjoying the cinematography + dynamics as much as you can. it’s a very cosy show tbh like it always feels very warm? but then they skip some important scenes and so the overall depth is actually very flat. and 100% agree with lucas, do not understand the hype at all and do not understand why everyone ships him with jens wtfock!!! i mean i do lmao but zero good vibes with that...

Druck. The fact that they've changed it up with every season to match the character is some galaxy brain shit. I'm ready for s5's soundtrack babyyyy

Italia. They've had an amazing soundtrack from episode one. Season 3 and 4 were especially great. We call that iconic™

Wtfock. Countless iconic moments. Overall it's amazing. We have no choice but to stan

NL. Has my skam song moment (girl fight, fuck the pain away. A moment in history). And they've had other great moments in s2 but they snapped in s1 (and that's the story in general for nl sjdmjdjdje)

España. It's good. A few really great moments that I can think of. A lot of it works well in the background. She doesn't take over, a humble queen

Austin. A solid soundtrack. It's low because there's not many standout moments for me. But it's still good. Sorry austin

France. The fucking piano music. Every other soundtrack is good, except this shit. Best evak first kiss song tho. Other than that jfc. Do they get paid by big piano or something? What is this

when isa gets a nose piercing!!! i dunno but this clips was just so unique and iconic skam nl style. their portrayal of isa trying to find herself again and then being carefree and just young and doing what she felt like doing in that moment + janna and liv being the cutest and most supportive friends??? we stan. other remakes could never

when isa is calling kes and she tells him that he told her to call him when she found herself again and that she's ready to talk now. the music!! the calm atmosphere!!! the cinematography!!! isa lying on the grass completely happy and at peace. im still sobbing

when the girl squad shows up at livs because they know that she's not doing well and liv tells them about what happened with morris and even trusts them enough to show them the video and they are the most supportive girl squad ever and janna tells liv that she's gonna fight morris in her bra if that makes her feel better🥺🥺

noah's and liv's first kiss. the best first noorhelm kiss with the best soundtrack and the best cinematography!!! noah lifting liv up the ground. sweet!!💌

also the second last and last clip of s2. my favorite chaotic girl squad missing their bus and ahhjh this whole scene was so damn cute and screamed skam nl energy. also liv kissing engel's forehead saved 2019. and liv and noah on that bike driving through amsterdam, eskild making a comeback and everything abt that birthday party was just so heartwarming!!

I am so happy for us and you that SkamIt is resurrected woooooo! I know you love lots of the remakes but what is it about skam it that makes it special for you?

Ohh this is such a good question!

First off, I love many of the remakes. I have such a soft spot for Skam France for example and thought s3 was bloody incredible all considered.

But I don’t know if I can pin point why Skam It works for me like it does...

From an early age, I have loved Italy, the Italian language and I had many Italian friends and I became so fond of so much of the Italian culture so when I knew there’d be an Italian Skam I was so excited to learn more about the culture etc.

But I think, for me, it’s a mixture of the cast being so incredible at portraying their characters, the cinematography, the way that the changes the make are genuinely, for the most part, incredibly good and there is so much warmth and heart while also being kind of typically Italian... aka a little blunt and brutal which is AWESOME.

Also, Marti. Hahaha.

But their s1 is the only s1 I have loved since the original and I like it MORE than the original which is don’t say lightly at all...! Gio is one of my favourite characters for a long long time and I think the cast chemistry is what also nails it for me. They’re VERY VERY good. I am obsessed with character driven real honest and kinda raw shows/movies and it’s why Skam works for me... but when you find actors who just GET that, it’s perfect.

Then s2 happened. I think it’ll be a long time before a watching experience of anything fictional gets to me like that did... it’s up there with the original s3 for me. It got to me THAT much. I made so many posts back in the day after most of the 2nd half of the season and I had so much to say because each clip had SO MUCH. There is so much thought that goes into the show and it’s genuinely precious to me. The s2 metaphors stun me to this day, the whole nature/nurture element of Ele’s season was so pretty etc

S3 was always the acid test because I hated the original s2 and while I felt s3 suffered a little from certain things, Ele and Edo are the only version of Noora/William that I like (I haven’t watched wtfock and I know many love Z/S) and despite some of the s3 hiccups which i think absolutely we’re caused by behind the scenes issues with their broadcaster, the lack of social media and access to the clips... some of the clips just worked so damn much for me and the characters continued to be so precious to me.

I think the contrast between the raw/honest stuff and Skam It’s overwhelming warmth that just fits for me... and not to mention the casual chemistry. There’s a reason most people love the Skam It boys the most and it’s because of that natural way they have that makes them VERY real and VERY loveable. Same with Ele and Edo, I felt their connection and I ADORE their reunion clip - it killed me.

So yes, it’s a weird one because many of the remakes have VERY VERY special elements. Like Skam Fr nailed s3 social media & a lot of the chemistry is amazing and I know Skam NL has beautiful cinematography, Druck took cool chances and have a killer soundtrack etc etc etc but I guess everyone has one remake that just fits and Skam It makes me FEEL THINGS. Hence all of my ridiculous rants!

But yeah. Martino Rametta owns my heart as a character. He’s my dude and I love him. I have a fucking giraffe on my wall because s2 meant so much to me 😂 and Marti’s experiences are so painfully close to my own when I was a teenager that I just would never be able to shake him off.

And I am here until we get Giovanni Garau, Season 5 main. I’m stubborn as hell so... 😉

okay so i am not gonna count skam, imagine it’s no.1 on a seperate level. i am just gonna rank the remakes.

1. druck.

do i need to even explain? i mean i love druck so so so much. they did a lot of things right if i were to right a proper analysis. but i put it in no.1 personally because i love the characters so much. and it’s a real kudos to the writers for having every character be fleshed out, for showing us almost eveybody’s development and all the connections between the characters. just amazing.

2. skam italia.

again not a surprising choice for me and let’s all blame s2 for this because i can’t honestly get over that. again i think it’s no.2 because of how much i love the characters. and also i think they did a really good job of making the characters their own. and also the whole atmosphere, the mediterennean vibes, how i saw me and my friends in the characters is a big reason.

3. skam nl.

if we are going to get technical, skam nl is the remake with the best soundtrack and the best cinematography and one of the best directings and actings. so of course it goes to s3. their writing was also pretty good in s1 and half of s2 but the second part of s2 was a bit...no. anyway, still one of the greatest chemistry between the cast so yeah.

4. skam france.

i’ll admit skam france is the remake that disappointed me the most just because of how they handled certain things in s5 and how much i expected from them. still, they did a pretty good in s3 with creating new dynamics like lucas and the girl squad and developing lucas and eliott’s relationship really well. skam fr has its own issues but if you think about it everything the do adds up in their own universe.

5. skam espana.

it’s gonna be a bold opinion but s3 of skamesp is one of my fav seasons ever. it was clear that they had a message to give and they gave that. i love skam esp because it holds og’s message (i know about the controversies just okay) about optimisim and trying to teach smt really well.

6. wtfock.

wtfock has some of my favoruite dynamics on the show like the whole casa milan and zoenne, and zoenne itself. they did one of the best version of s2 really kudos to them. and the way i love senne, the dad senne, is everything. it lands here because of some of the plotlines they did.

i don’t think these are much controversial but anyway!

i wrote a giant review post and i thought i’d keep the momentum going so here’s a giant review on skam nl under a read more

okay so i have to say i loved s1 and i think nl did one of (maybe even the) best versions of s1 i love isa so much and i loved the girl squad and i was super exicted to see their version of s2 since noah/liv were the only version that i didn’t dislike in s1 and i hate to say it but ... i find s2 pretty underwhelming. and i have for a while. i’m still keeping up with it but honestly i’m having some (kinda big) problems with the way it’s written

(and needless to say these are all my opinions and you can disagree it’s fine etc.)

what it boils down to are these points:

1) plot driven - this season is SO plot driven it drives me mad. somehow the entire plot just happens /to/ liv (and i’m not talking about the SA here of course but everything that happens before that) and somehow almost every decision she does make and where they’d finally show her having some agency is off screen?? i keep feeling like everything that happens happens because it’s the next step in the story and there’s little transition imo?? i feel like i always see plot point a then plot point b but a lot of the times i don’t know what actually happened to lead from one to the other for example i still don’t freaking know why liv actually went on a date with him?? or noah saying his brother can’t be trusted but then still believing him. i just feel like liv and noah both as characters just don’t fit into the way they’re going about this story

2) noah - i think noah as a character had a ton of potential to be really insteresting and different but ... NL changed the vibes around him completely and you have this artsy painter dude who seems quite charming and doesn’t take himself too seriously (which monk portrays perfectly ngl) but they just completely failed to adjust the story so it fits his character better. instead noah (in my opinion i’m very sorry lmao) actually behaves more like OG william than most other williams. he acts the same way, he justifies his actions the same way, he even says a lot of the exact same lines and ... why?? why not fully embrance those vibes and actually change the story as a consequence?? i remember soo many people in the fandom saying they can’t see noah beating up someone and it’s true i agreed but then it happened anyway and these moments just KEPT HAPPENING where i couldn’t see him doing something but he did anyway and i just don’t understand why.

so instead of changing things that were easy to change and would make noah better than william they change things that are unnecessary which leads me to one of the biggest plot devices i’ve ever seen: the death of noah’s mum. when i first realised that noah’s mum dies during this season i was actually pretty excited bc i thought they’d use that to explore him as a character more but!! no it was just a two week plot device to guilt trip liv?? and almost every clip we got during that time was just liv feeling guilty and guiltier and her staring at her phone constantly until she ends up at the wake and we find out actually noah wasn’t even close with her and it didn’t really affect him?? and it hasn’t been mentioned since either??? WHY!! instead of giving noah and liv a solid base for a relationship and use that time to idk get to know each other more and like just to talk it just feels to me like they took the easy way out writing wise

also it’s literally the penultimate episode and noah has had ZERO character development and we still know very little about him but we’re still supposed to be rooting for him and liv?? how am i supposed to do that when he’s so underwritten?? this is all such a shame goddamn it

3) time management/pacing - i have no idea if it’s because i binged s1 or not but you can tell so hard with s2 that they’re on a time limit and it always confuses me what they end up coosing to spend time on. prime example: the sleepover clip. we spend 3 whole minutes (yes i checked) with liv going around that wake having that weird conversation that literally adds nothing to anything and then she finally sees noah we see them sit next to each other and listen to a record and ... then liv talks to ralph on the phone and it just cuts to them getting ready for bed like why spend so much time on unnecessary stuff in the beginning and then when there are finally opportunities for development they’ve got no more time left!!!

in general when there finally is a moment of tension or conflict the clip usually ends and we have to wait a whole day or even 2 for another clip and it just really makes me wish we’d get less of these quiet moments (and while they’re definitely necessary too i just feel like nl actually has way too many of them) and just give us more plot movement instead so we can actually get somewhere. this is less of a problem if you only watch whole eps but since this is skam and real time narrative it just doesn’t work for me.

4) conversations - the lack of converstions REAL conversations between noah and liv is sooo frustrating to me. they’ve basically only had ONE real conversation so far and that was when liv broke up with him. that was the first time they actually /talk/ to each other and ... okay i know everybody keeps saying NL is prioritising liv since it’s her own season and that it’s about her and not her realtionship with noah but i mean that relationship is a big part of her story?? and i still don’t know why liv actually likes noah, i don’t know how she realised that she loves him and we haven’t actually like ... seen them bond??

the conversation i did actually really like was the one between liv and esra when she asks if esra has ever been in love but i was just kinda like where did that come from?? they’d made out twice at that point and that was it?? i guess this ties in with the fact that it’s just plot driven which means i don’t necessarily get a character’s motivations since they explore the plot and not the characters themselves. the other actual conversation was the one liv had with engel but there for me it was another case of Where Did That Come From you know? like engel gives liv this whole thing about how she’s scared of chaos which is true but from a storytelling point of view there was nothing to like ... trigger that realisation? i mean of course theoretically i know that the girls are all close friends and just know each other well but when you tell a story (even if it’s skam that’s based in realism and believability) you need buildup to things and i feel like that something that really lacks in skam nl

5) in general - to me personally it just feels a lot like nl shies away from proper conflict a lot because resolving it would take time which they don’t have but that means they don’t build proper tension that drives the plot forward. and i actually have the same problem with s2 in the OG as well don’t get me wrong but i feel like that’s something they could change but haven’t because nl just?? idk seems scared of changing too much?? they change the characters but not the plot but why? who knows, i sure don’t and it’s not they way i enjoy a story being told

okay to end this whole thing on a more positive note lmao here’s some thing i actually do like about this season:

soundtrack is a+ as always nl is good at that

the cinematography and general aesthetic is just ... so pretty (but ngl i feel like that sometimes comes at a cost of substance)

the girl squad! although i can’t say it’s the best as many other people do because i never would have thought iman missing would be this noticeable but for me it throws off the entire dynamic?? anyway but i do like them

unpopular opinion: skam nl doesn't have a really good writing and the reason why most people hype up this remake so much is because of the beautiful aesthetics and good soundtrack, other than that the writing is a lot of times messy and inconsistent (season 2 mostly, like c'mon wedding scene? it made no sense at all and a lot more other scenes). So I know skam austin is not everyone's favorite but I actually think their writing is realistic considering these are teens and it's awkward and funny just like it should be. I would prefer a Shay season over a Lucas one any day!!
